Post subject:  oversized head gasket
Where can I find a head gasket that can accomidate a larger bore. The stock gasket is hanging over the cylinder wall on the end cylinders a little and would like for it to have a better seat between the block and head.

Actually I've been looking in to this. The Permaseal brand is availalble from Blue Star Spares in Australia. They have a minimum order of 5 pieces and I'm guessing it would run about $65.00 each to get them to the states but it could be a skosh more depending on import fees. I was contemplating a group buy and have a couple of interested parties. I would like to have 2 for myself but might have to settle for one for the time being. My current thinking is that I would offer a group buy with a prepayment of $65.00 and then any balance would be due on delivery. I can't afford to front the entire shipment out of my own resources and I can't afford to risk the overage if there is any. I've been mulling it over for a few days but since you brought it up I figured I'd go ahead and put it out there for discussion.

I don't think so. It's a composition gasket with extra large bore holes. There is some discussion related to it in this thread:

Pentastar parts in Australia, http://www.pentastarparts.com.au sells the permaseal ap210 head gaskets (actually made by AA Gaskets in OZ), but they are not listed on the website, so you have to email them. You can buy single gaskets from them. The price is about the same,$68AUS including tax and shipping to the US (which was about $62 US when I ordered it).

When I posted this info a while back there were a couple of folks here on the board who said the could get them much cheaper. Try a search for permaseal, and you'll find that thread.

I emailed both Pentastar and Blue Star, only Blue Star responded. The cost he quoted me, for a minimum order of 5, was about 58.00 US each, plus shipping which he said he couldn't quote until it was packaged. I figured the end cost to each buyer would be somewhere around $65.00 unless there is an import tariff. There would not be a tariff, more than likely, on a small order, but I have to keep the possibility open. Also shipping from Phoenix to various points in the US might vary. I'm guessing priority mail will be $10.00 or less. I think I would leave the Canadian folks to do a seperate order if they are interested. The last time I sent something to Canada they hit the guy with a broker fee and I don't think he saved any money in the long run.

Ray, Sr. from Pentastar is often on this board. When I emailed them it took a day or so for a response, but he did say that they would continue to have some on-hand.

There are folks in the US that sell these gaskets ones in FL Im not sure about the other. Maybe Lou will chime in as I think he knows who they are.

I think the Ebay seller is falconglobal. May also come from maddogracing. These should not be that expensive.

BTW, the Felpro gasket is 3.500" or a bit more, which covers a lot of bore sizes. Valve relieving can be a problem though.

I tried falconglobal, madddog racing and Internal Engine Parts when I bought mine. None of them carried it at the time(a few months ago).

just like to add if anyone is going to help us canadians get some of these fine u.s parts to make ower /6`s faster you have to ship it u.s.p.s(ground) to canada post (ground). they will ship anything up to 66lbs for 8.50$ + insurance,you only get broker fees when a bonded carrier takes the parcel, with U.S. postal and canada post you only get a 2% duty fee on auto parts. the few slanters on this site that have helped me shipped it this way. the only down side is it`s slower than courier but as long as i can get it i am happy to wait. :D

Do you have to pay any duty in Canada for items imported from Australia or another Comonwealth country? I was under impression that it would be easier and likely cheaper for Canadians to import directly rather than go through the US.

i don`t know about other countries, i have only order out of u.s., and it is alot cheaper with canada post if they can handle the parcel, the size and weight are limited.some order i have from summit have been delivered with only g.s.t .having to be paid.
