Currenyly Super 6. HEI upgrade. 904 trans. This will be a daily driver. Is it possible or recommended to use a 4bbl intake with a 2bbl carb.? I'm Interested in economy. Adapter?

I have a holley 2bbl on an offy manifold, it allows me to tune the 4bbl on the weekend and run the 2bbl to work during the week.

I have often thought that a two barrel on a four barrel intake would give better fuel distribution, but I have not tried it to know. If you was going to do this I would use the Offy intake and not the Clifford, unless you was still going to run a big enough cam to turn some good RPM (6500 plus).

I believe it would be good to try this.

Did you have to cut the center out of the manifold to run the 2 barrel since it will be lining up right on top of the 4 barrel webbing?

I wanted to try this too! But folks said you had to cut the offy to make it work.

Thanks,

Ted, I drilled a hole through the web on the plate. There is still support for the 4bbl, but is a through hole for the 2bbl. With the adaptor, the 2bbl sits about 1.5" above that.

Clifford manifolds are designed with an adapter plate that can be switched out depending on whether you want a four barrel or a two barrel. My own Clifford setup has a one-off adapter I had a local machine shop build for a Ford 4.6 throttle body.

Did you take a large hole saw to cut the 4 hole web from the manifold or cut two smaller holes to line up with the two barrel?

How is is working for you? (Running the two barrel for mileage during the week and then switching to the 4 for racing)
What kind of mileage are you getting?
Are you using the stock Carter BBD?
Are you using the stock two barrel shift down linkage on both set ups?
What 4 barrel are you using?

Sounds like a great idea! :D

Thanks,

I drilled out between the four holes, it is pretty thin but should support the four barrel gasket. It works fine, I had the holley 350 cfm on a supersix intake, moved it to the offy because of 4 barrel intentions, did not notice much if any improvement with the offy over the supersix manifold. I am using the lokar cable for kickdown. I have the holley 8007 for the four barrel, have not messed with it much.
