Ok guys I've found my super six setup, carb, intake manifold, even the super six logo on the aircleaner, oh and the step down linkage. What was missing was the exhaust manifold. Will my stock non-super six exhaust manifold work?? By the way paid $80 for the whole works for another $45 He'll through in the exhaust manifold if he has one. This is on a 71 dodge demon. Thanks guys and gals Jeff |

There is no difference in the exhaust manifold on a Super 6 vs. a 1 bbl engine. Use the one you have if it's in good condition. |

There is a difference between early and late manifolds. The choke pocket changed when they went to the electric choke around '74 or so. The rest of the manifold is unchanged. SS setup will be for the electric choke and the older watchspring choke may not work with it. ![]() |

Yep, the differences in exhaust manifolds are by year, not by carburetor type. The factory 2bbl choke thermostat definitely won't fit a '70-'72 exhaust manifold (with open "stove" sealed at the top by a gasketed stainless steel cup, instead of one of the three types of cast-in choke pocket used in '60-'65, '66-'69, and '73-up). No big loss; the electric choke kit will bolt on and work better anyhow. |

Thanks SSD, I knew there was something with the choke, But like you said I'm going electric anyway, besides I have the whole intake, It's the exhaust manifold I was worried about. Thanks. |

so if the super setup used a 2.25 exhaust pipe is there no difference in the outlet of the manifolds? - oo3 |

Correct! stock is 2". You can enlarge them to 2.25".I did on mine with a long cutter and a long sanding mandrel from a vertical wood working sander. |

I have the super 6 intake off a 1970 225 cu in. Will my 1961 170 cu in exhaust manifold work as a mate? Do they share the same exhaust chamber and same outlet size? OK to use? (I will be using manual choke) gl/6 |

Yes, it is ok to use. All exhaust manifolds are interchangeable and have the same 2" outlet size. They also can be ground or sanded out internally to 2.25". Super six intake manifolds with the two barrel came out in 1976 and 1977 on Volare's and Aspen's. |

Just before I put this project on hold a couple years ago, I thought I saw an article on how to split your own? I thought it was written by Doug? Also on the 1970 = years vs super six, I wrote it down wrong. My bad. ![]() |
