Looking for a good rebuild kit for my one barrel on my 71 swinger 198. Either that or a good rebuilt unit. Who do I contact? |

Hygrade 1636 according to the site parts list. Trust yourself for the rebuild, you're your own best friend. |

The Hygrade 1636 is a good second-preference kit. Best one you can buy is a Walker #15483A. It may be harder to find than the Hygrade kit, but it's worth the effort. Slantfin is right — if you're able to rebuild the carb yourself, you should. Check for slop at the throttle shaft/bushing junction; if you find some, have the throttle body rebushed, see here. If not, see this post and this one for competent carb rebuilders. Whatever you do, don't trade your carburetor in for a "remanufactured" or "rebuilt" unit from the parts store! |
