Post subject:  Oil Filter Adapter Available?

Last fall I changed oil on my 1979 D-100 /6. I've changed my own oil for the last 33 years, but this is my first slant. I made a royal mess. I had motor oil from my fingertips to my elbows. Is there a 90 degree (or other)oil filter adapter available for the /6? I do not want a remote filter with the extra oil lines. If the oil filter could be mounted sideways,it would drain without the mess. Also, I removed the filter from below, and several cups of oil got on my blacktop(bummer) and cardboard(no problem).THANKS GUYS!!

Knock some holes in the top with a nail before removing the filter, so air can get in to let the oil drain out.........

I always change filters from the top and put a pan underneath to catch what little comes out. Drain your engine first and do the filter last.

Did Mopar ever make an oil filter adapter for the slant 6? I had one on my 69 dart 340, which was necessary to clear thr Cyclone Headers.More help please. Dan? Doc? All Others? Thanks.

For domestic slant 6s the oil filter mounts to the oil pump. No adapters involved and no simple way to move the filter.

If you want to move the filter hoses or hard lines will be involved and you already stated your opposition to hoses.

I believe the aussie Slant s use some sort of relocation of the filter to make room for the steering column


Maybe sv 162 or some of the other aussie users can chime in here on this..

The RHD oil pump has no filter mounting pad, just two female pipe threads, one for inlet and one for outlet. Oil filter pipe and location configuration depended on year and model.

Hmmmmm. I wonder how a guy might obtain one of these. Maybe a supplier here in the U.S.?

Cool -- See there ya go Just get an aussie oil pump then you can mount your oil filter remotely where ever you want with the threads pointing toward the sky for a less mess oil change job.

There are plenty of aftermarket adapters that fit ontop of the pump in place of the filter, and give you two threaded ports.

Summit has filter relocating kits with both needed adapters for the pump/filter and all the fittings & hose.
