Who's car is still in pieces?

When was I supposed to panic? The night before the race?

The only thing keeping my Valiant from driving is the rear end. All I need to do is bolt in the 8 1/4 and have the driveshaft shortened. Eventually a hot engine and 4-speed will replace the stocker and 3-speed. I may bolt a Holley 350 2bbl and 2 1/4" exhaust on the stock motor though in the mean time.

You think you're having fun... after a very nice visit and show and tell with Stephaniebrite77 and friends (a very intelligent and good bunch of future slanters there, glad to make their acquaintences!)...

I finally finished pulling the motor and tranny from the Hpak duster and got cleaned up about 3:30...

Now to replace the flywheel, clutch, and fix the 'weep' out the timing cover, and replace the contacts in the ministarter (*click*)...then replace the steeringbox, suspension...

LOL...

Project V: engine, trans, rear, rear discs, 17X9 rims, slicks all around...

Looking forward to a big jump in performance.

Exactly 1 month before I need to test drive the Valaint before LV......

Oil pump in America is the holdup.....cant get to it for a week.

The car is 3/4 dug out of the snow....2 more hours and its free.

The head goes to the sheen shop today for a .100 mill......back next week mebbe....its 3 hours away.....and not toward the oil pump.

I need to order a new clutch disc.....my repeated burnouts broke some springs(2)

I may need shorter pushrods.......

Good motor is together and in the car. I pick up the trans tomorrow. After that all I have to do is install the trans, bolt together the rear end and install it along with the Cal-Tracs and new brakes, install a complete fuel system from cell forward, and wire up the trans brake. I don't have to have it done until the last weekend in March for Tech at RT66. :?

I may be off 12's after next week, maybe not.

I need to get "cracking" on assembling a new race engine.
All the parts are here, just need some time, today should be the day.
BTW... I start to 'panic' on the Monday before the race weekend.

Front seat is out getting new 'hyde'. Rear (seat) is done. I have a terminal case of DIYism. I kinda sorta know how to sew now :D  8)

I got a real cast iron slant six 4-speed bellhousing today. Got a spare Holley 1920 too, but it's a List 3672 for '67 automatics and my original carb is a 3275 for '66-'67 manual trans cars. The 4-speed will have to wait until the hot engine goes in. Oh, also picked up the head from the machinist. Now for the porting and short block and flywheel and clutch and...

I really want to add an intake, but $$ might get in the way. As soon as I can find a tach module for my sun unit I will be adding that. Hoping for even better consistancy!

My transmission is still in pieces. Fopar and I were inspecting the L/R band. It's cracked just about where his broke. Interesting.
Hopefully we'll get it together tonight. It sure would be nice to have a car that moves under it's own power before the date of the race!
I won't be changing the rear out till after Vegas, so the Valiant will be in the 19 second category for yet another appearance. Hopefully the other converter will move it to a slightly lower dial-in. :D
At least the brakes aren't bled yet. Good Grief!

Gerald and I are planning a serious new engine build for Turismo 225 that will hopefully be powerful enough to take either the A or B Gas record away from Seymour! . I am still hoping some more chassis work will be done to it as well...

Hopefully Frank & Cinda will be able to swap the engine/transmission into the GodsRods Duster this year.

What am I "personally" doing with Slant 6 stuff this year?... Not a single thing, unfortunately.
