Post subject: | Help a carb newbie hook up his carb |
I can hook up and tune fuel injected cars all day long, but I have pretty much zero experience with carbs. I stuck a new holley replacement carb on my slant, but it's been a while since I took the old one off and I forgot where all the vacuum lines go. I have a picture where the ports are marked and numbered, the only thing I am looking for now is a vacuum source for my distributor, and I'm going to cap off everything else that I don't need. Thanks in advance. |

Get a vacume gauge and hook it up to the ports and find the one that has little to no vacume but gradually gains vacume as the throtlle is actuated. The #2 should be the one you need on that carb. |

i would think that it is number one. it is higher than the throttle plate so it should be timmed vacuum, if you dont have a vac gauge just put your finger over it and see if theres vacuum at idle, there shouldnt be for your dist vac, you dont want it to advance at idle... |

No need to guess, go and look it up. Here is the Holley 1945 operation and rebuild manual (pdf). |
