Yea, I know, it's not a Slant, but I figure some of you guys have worked with the V8s, and I need a little help.

The motor mounts on my '64 Barracuda are shot. I ordered some from my local parts place and ended up with this mount:

#2266

I can't get the mounts off of the car, so I am taking it in (to the same place) to have it done, but the best I can tell is that the mounts currently in the car are taller, like this:

#2265

The top mount appears to have about 1/2" of rubber and my mounts look to have about 1". I am wondering if the books are wrong or if someone put the wrong mounts in this baby. Can anyone help? It looks like either one may fit.

If it's a V8 you want the shorter mounts.

Id Like to lower the engine in the Valaint a little ( to help with the lower trans mount with 5 speed). Would the V8 mounts work?

Thanks Joshie.

As for lowering the engine (Slant?), I don't know if these mount the same. The center to center on the studs is 1.25". You may run into clearance problems with the pan if you lower the engine.

FWIW, those short mounts look like late model V8 mounts, like a Magnum van or truck. The tall mounts are the correct old style. I think you're right, Chuck; you'll end up with clearance problems. However, if they fit, then Shumacher's "Magnum" mounts have an internal interlock that's supposed to keep them from pulling apart.
If you try them and they fit, please let us know.

It turns out that neither mount is correct for my car, which I found out after 2 hours of work to remove them! Danged V8s. If this was a slant I would have been done already!

The correct mount is:
