I have an old S&W tach that was designed to run off a 6 cylinder, points-type ignition without a sending unit. So tell me about tach adaptors. I want to use this tach when I convert from points ign. to an MP-3690789 electronic conversion setup. I've heard that switching from points to electronic ignition sometimes results in the the tach still performing accurately at idle but wavering erratically at RPMs above idle, and that a tach adaptor will correct this. What adaptor am I looking for? Thanks. |

If the tach wire was running off the negative post of the coil with points, it will still work running off the negative post of the coil with an electronic conversion The only way it wouldn't work (and you'd probably destroy the tach) is if the new ignition was an MSD or equivalent and you were hooked to the negative post of the coil......... |
