On my 63 Dart, I can't get under the dash and reach the light bulbs. There isn't enough room to get my hand far enough in there. I can feel the sockets with my fingertips, but I can't get a good grasp on them to get them out. I was doing this in the dark at the dragstrip to get the oil light bulb out (not hooked up, always stays on), so maybe there's a larger gap I can get my hand through, otherwise I guess I'll have to take the cluster out, How hard is that? |

I'm not sure about the '63 Dart, but it's not hard on a '64 Valiant. To get the bezel off, I lower the steering column for clearance. Be careful, there are a lot of wires and connections back there. Tip 1: When they say, "Disconnect battery." before starting this task, it's a good idea to do it. Tip 2: This might be a good time to look for other issues back there. Check connections, IVR, other bulbs, etc. |

The 63 Dart is just as easy as the Valiant. However, if you just want to turn off the light, cover the wire to the oil sensor. Grounding that wire turns on the light, so wrap it with tape or shrink tubing. I can get at all the lights in my 63 without removing the panel, but I have small hands. You just have to find the correct "access route". |
