i replaced my four-leaf units with some sixes from a donor duster, and have since experienced a goofy feeling in the seats: I'm bouncing pretty good inside the car going down the road. on larger bumps, my weight actually pushes the springs within the seat into contact with the floorboard! anybody experience anything similar? although i do not by any means have a set of performance shocks installed, the ones that are in the car seem to be doing an adequate job; there is only one compression on the way down the speed bumps in the parking lot @ work. I suppose that my seat could be the root of the problem; the foam, and upholstery are certainly shot, perhaps the springs within are beyond their duty cycle limit? |

My guess? Shocks. From what I keep reading from people who know a lot more about suspension than me, stiff springs need GOOD shocks. Stock 5 or 6-leafs might be okay with $30 KYBs minimum, but Edelbrocks would likely be a big improvement. Guys who autocross A-bodies use BIG torsion bars and QA-1 adjustable shocks and get a very firm (but not uncomfortable) ride, much like modern performance cars. |

Sounds like bad shocks and a worn out seat. I would try some new Monroe shocks on the back and see how she drives. The generic gas shocks Schuck's used to carry were made by Monroe and worked well. |

ha-ha! rereading my post; it sounds like I'm a BIG dude, where that is not entirely true. I only squeeze my bathroom scale up to 163 lb. maybe my weight is localized onto only a few of the seat springs due to skinny assness |
