Unfortunately no. The ends of the axles are different, and the bearings are bigger. The whole rear will bolt right in to her car though, and she will end up with 10" brakes too.

Hey all, Ive got a good question for you. Stephanie is looking at parts on a 76 dart, and it has the LBP 7.25" rears, or at least we think it does. If it does, would it be possible to just change out the axle shafts to convert her current rear end to a LBP from her stock SBP? Thanks in advance! ~The Other Rob~ |

Best way to tell if the front end is still there and the car is 'stock', is to reach behind the front wheels and see if it's drums or discs...if discs then BBP (and all the parts she needs front and back for now...)like Big D said, for pre-72 there are a few changes to the axle, and you'll just need to pull the rear and put it under the car... (you can use her ring gear, etc... if you want to swap ratios...if you use the '76 dart's rear, you will need the hard to find speedo gear to match the rear ratio also...) -D.Idiot p.s. if the price is right and the car has 10" drums, that's be better than 9" drums, and you can pull the parts to upgrade her to a dual pot master cylinder rather than the single pot version while you're stripping the car... |

Just an add on question. How would someone go about installing this rearend in an early A-body ('64)? I assume that the housing and axles would need shortening. It almost sounds like too much work but I'm sure people do it. |

The spring perches are all the same for the 63-76 A-body...jack the car up, undo your u-bolts, pull the shock plates, undo the brake line to the axle,undo the rear hangers, roll your old axle out from under the car... roll the later axle back in... do the reverse, and use the later axle shock plates and u-bolts (and you may need a rear alignment, and if you have fatter than stock tires/aftermarket wheels with a non-stock offset... it may throw things off a bit spacing wise, and you may need to change rims if you have 13" tires)...-D.idiot |

I've got a LBP 7-1/4 Rear from under a '71. There are pictures of DusterIdiot playing in the mud and snow with it. It doesn't sound like Kidd wants it, so shoot me a PM, and we'll figure something out. At the least, come down and measure it for fit. CJ |

All the A-body rears are pretty much the same width. I have an 8-3/4 under my 66 that is out of a '70 Swinger. Bolted right in, and I even have the 10" brakes off my LBP 7-1/4 out of my Duster on it.
