hello sages- here is a good one -dont like to bother doctor dougmo or the sages unless i am really stumped.i have had for 24 years a 77aspen wagon super6 w/4spd od on which i have done 346kmiles,2d engine,3d trans. it has all the good characteristics of the breed and i want to keepitgoing- do most of the work myself. here isthe scoop- rust is raising hell with it. one cannot have a nice car long in nj -wet salt and weather. most of the rust in the floors and frame ive had fixed by welders i know, but the floor pan under the deck where the tire is stored is 50% rusted through to the tank and needs to be cutoutand a new piece welded in. body shops tell me to get a new piece as they cant fashion or prefabricate a piece from sheet metal for less than a million bucks; they really dont want to do the job that way. do any of you know whether an aftermarket supplier has these pieces-the body shop folks tell me they are available but they dont know sources. forget the dealer and the junkyards- yard stuff like this isalso rusted to hell and dealers cant remember 77model tanks. need help sages- where can i find this piece- or do you have any alternative advice other than junk the car. thanks tons <A HREF="mailto:callpaladin@aol.com">callpaladin@aol.com</A>
