Post subject:  Turbo 6 information ,parts

Hello I am new to this site and the 6cyl world and dont know its limits .I have had a several BB Dusters, race and street but recently picked up a 68conv barracuda with a 6 and a 3speed on the column.I always wanted to get into the turbo world after I had a couple of shelby daytonas I had bought to get back and forth to work with,I was really impressed with what that 4cyl could do.I was thinking of building a small block with a turbo or twin turbo but then I saw a tv show with "riceburners" and they were building a serious track car with a straight six and twin turbos.I was really impressed on how awesome the motor came out and thought how unique the barracuda would be when I opened the hood and people saw a twin turbo 6cyl..I am looking for some knowledge and tips from any turbo six cyl guys, parts that are available, pictures of your motors, etc. Thanks,Eddie

Ok well here's a crash course on everything I know about these things and the research I've been doing. My build is in the hopes of braking 400hp at the crank, I've already done a na slant that has done half that. It was pretty cool, but now it's time to push the envelope. I plan on doing some unique things cause we just finished a foundry, but there is no reason you can't follow me and get a good 350hp. All this info relates to a 225.
First my two turbo selections have been either a t61 or twin t3's (trim) both should get you the same results. A key to this will be custom exahust tubing, those kits they sell to make headers with various bends and a welder should do this fine. A guy in Amity Oregon was talking about a powder coating that could coat the headers for decent street/strip use. The internals are going to be important and your lucky enough to have the strong crank (read "twiggy" by Doc using Search) to cut the pig tails off the the crank. Polish the rods and have all the rotating internals balanced to match. The next move is going to be your call, doing this build I would plan on running 15lb of boost, so Hypereuretics might survive this if you can tune your engine well and on the first guesses. There's various forged pistons availble including Ross which has been noted to me lately. I would hard block the block about an inch, and coat the piston types with ceramic.
The head will hopefully run a little bit cheaper with simple head work. 3 angle, seats, guides, and a face should be plenty. Valves are optional in my opinion, unless you can round up some of engrblder's 1.77/1.4 sets which are nice to use. A copper or australian head gasket will be a must with this set-up. Simply take a die grinder to the ports enough to match them to a gasket. Bolting one on should be good enough for this.
Cam is going to have to be a custom grind from a cam grinder. This will be cheaper than most of summit's stuff anyways. I'll have to refer back to notes, but it should be a large lift with smaller duration. A stock cam will work for this application if all else fails.
As for intake I must stress hooking up an intercoolerfor anything about 8psi, and if that;s all you want anyways you would be better off with an m90 and new speedpro manifold. A sheetmetla manifold can be made with a simple tube and individual runners that are 1.5/1.25 tube and foots made from 3/8 plate, and Offy will work also. I would stress looking into Megasquirt and adapting to EFI, or read through this post http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28649.

All in all good luck, and PM's are always a good way to reach me.
