I'm about ready to "fire-off" a Fogger NOS system on my racecar. The kit came with #18 & #22 jets (NOS & Fuel) Said to start with 4 lbs of fuel pressure.

What are you other "bottle racers" using? Any tips for a successful first shot?

Doug,
Sounds good to me for a startup. I was running 22 and 22 at 8.5lbs fuel pressure.
Use a nonextended tip spark plug, with a short ground electrode. I am using NGK B9ES (early head). Also back up the timing, I suggest about 25 degrees total. Use best racing gas you can get (114-116). Make a pass, Check ALL (stress all) plugs for signs of detonation. If anything doesn't seem right on the run, get out of it, don't try to drive thru the problem. If everthing checks good, start tuning it. Add a little timing.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH FUEL PRESSURE AND VOLUME WHILE FLOWING.

5 psi Doug on enrichment. Charlie is sugesting a bunch of retard, I was backing off 16 with 28 jets. When I pulled the head no sign of detonation. I think you will be ok with the retard they sugest in the book. about 8??????

I was trying to be very conservative to start, and if everthing looks ok, then start adding timing. But i agree with Will, the book is pretty good. P.S. Will is one of the racers that helped me with my setup. Thanks, Will

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like both Will and Charlie run closer to "even" jet sizes and increased fuel pressure. (#22 & #22) NOs & Fuel)

I know I will want to try some different jetting, already have #18 & #22. What would you get?
A set of #20, another set of #22, may-be some #24s?

I wouldn't be in a big rush to change jets at this point. Work with your timing to optimize what you have. Then maybe go to a #20 nitrous jet and up the fuel pressure. Work with the timing again. Nitrous can give big gains, But if you get detonation, big problems. Remember, you won't hear the detonation.

Yup, I plan to "sneek-up" on the best NOS vs timing settings but realize there will be a learning curve.
I'm sure I will be looking at a lot of spark plugs as I get this system working well.
Just to be safe, I currently have a "no bucks" back-up motor in the car, to test the new "spray shot" on. (The hot motor can sit out the dial-in process)
I will keep you posted.

Thats what I did. I still have alot to learn on the nitrous, remember i'm new at this also. My "good" engine is still on the stand. The block is o-ringed, Lunati chrome crank, and some head work. After being on this list and others, i have ideas for more improvements. I plan on using the nitrous with my turbo, next season. Launch on the bottle, then as the boost comes up, turn the nitrous off.
