I takled with Seymour the other day and he is wondering what people would like to see as far as content in up-coming issues of the Slant Six Racing News?

We have (and always will have) Slant Six race coverage but what about other stuff?
Post your suggestions here and I will pass the info onto Seymour.

I think some racer profiles would be good. Since there is such a large variety of car preparation levels I think showcasing some would be enlightening. I would showcase someone with a completely stock car and highlight how competitive they can be. Charlie, our runner up at Medford's September '07 race comes to mind. I think this might make newcomers feel more welcome and willing to give bracket racing a try. Also show off the faster cars and have the racers explain their progression from their early slant 6 efforts to the car and ETs they run today.

Has there been an article on drag racing suspension setup?

I definitely like the personal stories and historical build up stuff. Having articles about entry level guys does make those newer to the scene feel more confident I think. I always love the Racer Profiles.

I've bugged a couple of the "Young Gun" guys about giving me information so I can give Seymour articles about their build ups.

Also, stories about stuff other than drag racing are interesting. Such as Lou's (and other's) cars running road courses, the hill climb Ram pick up, etc.

I do remember a couple articles awhile back covering suspension. I think they were focused on the early 61-62 cars, but the information was pertinent to all of the A bodies.

I'll pose a question first, in order to clarify a direction these suggestions should take.

Are "we" looking for subject matter specifically aimed at slant six racing, or just centering around the slant.

I'm going to a car show in NE Missouri, and the Krylon Special might be there. I could write something up, if it's acceptable.

This leads to my suggestion. Might we do a writeup on other than race cars, as long as they're slant powered? (Then we run the risk of things getting to big for Seymour, and the newsletter leaning more toward the old Slant Club of America mag.)

I get the feeling that Seymour just needs more material for the newsletter so this is an "anything goes" brainstorming session.

I may have to link to this thread to get others to see it, some don't come to this forum.

That was what I got from Seymour as well. He will always have drag race coverage and occasionally road race or hill climb or tractor pull stuff. He needs other articles of interest. He feels that most of the technical stuff has been covered well.

I would love to put together racer profiles to send to Seymour. I am waiting for some Young Gun stories to come my way.

I think it would be nice to have Seymour's and Doug's stories covered. There are several guys' stories that I would like to hear/read.

Are there any Biographers in the crowd that could help us assemble a basic list of questions?

1. How did you get into Slant 6's?... etc.

Good idea to post this in Social Corner Doug.
