Post subject:  Best Cam for my Power Wagon Slant

Dear All,

I want to buy a performance cam for my truck engine. I am planning to buy 244 duration 0,436" lift cam for my slant6. I will need some low end torque for offroad. Is there any reccomendations? Also I only know clifford cams, what other brands can you reccomend?

thnx

If that is 244 degrees advertised duration it sounds like a low end torque cam. Use the search function to read all about cams and the /6.

244 is very close to stock; you're unlikely to see a large difference with that one. I'd look for something a little more aggressive. There is information about an Erson Cam group buy, that is still ongoing, in the Parts For Sale section. They have several profiles and can grind custom profiles as needed. Also, Doc worked with them to set up a couple of dual profile grinds. Give them a call and talk to them about you needs; I think you'll be happy you did.

i don't have the link on me when i get home i'll shoot it your way erson cams are sold for a discount here on the forum. I run a 270dur erson cam i love it. You should get the 254 erson if i remeber that looks like a nice low end cam i'll look at my cam charts when i get home.

I worked-out this special RDP (Reverse Dual Pattern) cam with Erson a while ago, it combines their 254 profile on the intake lobes with the old Mopar 244 cam's profile on the exhaust side. This is a great low RPM, mild street cam but with a little more lift then stock cam.

What carb. and max RPM will you be running?
You can adjust the lobe centerline and cam advance to suit.

Doc,

Who would one contact to purchase the Erson RDP bumpstick? Is it a phone call to Mr. Gasket?
