It looks like 2 of my exhaust valves have receded. Can anyone suggest a good source for valves and seats, or do you normally let your machine shop purchase the seats to install? Thanks! -Mac |

Thank you Fopar. What difference is there in installing oversize valve seats... do they have to do quite a bit more work to make that happen? -Mac |

The customary procedure is to let the machine shop source the parts, according to your specifications (which may be as general as "Replace the valves and install hard seats"). |

Excellent (in the words of Montgomery Burns). Another question... Is it standard to replace the valve guides as well on a high mileage engine (165,000)? -Mac |

and ask for bronze guides, some places still 'cheap out' on guide work so watch it. -D.Idiot "No I said new bronze guides, hardened seats, and new valves and springs... not 'knurl' the old guides, put the old valves in, and re grind the old seats...." |
