Hey guys Im a big time mopar guy, always have been and have been building k-cars for the past 5 years. I stumbled upon a 74 valiant the other day, 4 door slant car for sale. The asking price is VERY affordable. lol. Anyways, I also like to go FAST, lol. Ive had some odd projects (future 13 second 87 NY in the garage right now...) and am leaning very heavily to turbo charging it if I purchased it. My question is, when does a stock slant motor just flat stop making power? I know the heads dont flow very well, but the bottom end is stout. Is 250hp about maxxed out? 200? I can get 200hp out of a 2.2 using a few select stock parts and alot of boost. Im just rambling now.... I basically want to know how fast i can make a turbo slant without spending alot of money. Im a full time mechanic/fab guy so that stuff isnt a problem. But I am money poor. lol. also, anyone have any good links on turbo slants? Ive used google alot but there has to be more info out there... thanks Dustin |

You have arrived at all the good links! Check out the Articles section of this site. You can pass 250 HP without the benefit of forced induction. I don't even want to guess what the ceiling for build HP is. Mine puts 161 HP to the ground according to the ET calculators, running the 2.76 freeway gears. We'll see now that there's a wee bit shorter rear gears going in. There are some folks pulling very big power out of these engines. Be prepared to take on a new addiction! CJ |

http://www.allpar.com/fix/holler/slant-six-turbo.html This is probably what your looking for. I'm glad that your goals are honest and would assume you could do high 200's on a decent budget if you did a lot of work. Apply all the usual hot rod tricks with attention to your cam profile and hyper pistons. Boost level will determine your need for expensive stuff, but there is no reason you can't start out at 6lbs get the whole thing going and go back when you have a bigger budget. |

The slant six has a lot of potential. See here for some of my specs. The all stock engine is making appx 260RWHP and runs 12's. As you know watch the tune or you might melt something. This is a vid of the chassis dyno run. |
