I have a '65 Dart with single speed wipers, can I swap in a variable speed switch and have it work correctly?

No, you'd need the variable-speed switch, the variable-speed motor, the rather complicated variable-speed parking cam and link arrangement, and the wiring between the switch and motor; all of these parts are different.

are we talking two or three speed? or the really slick delay feature that new cars have that is SOO nice here in the drizzly northwest?

My wipers were both variable-speed and running at intervals this morning, but not the way the factory intended ... :(

The options through '65 were single-speed (on/off) or variable-speed wipers. Two-speed wipers weren't available.

Ok, does anybody know where to buy a new single speed wiper switch, or the complete variable speed setup?

Gonna be used parts only on that one. Neither type of switch remains available new. Shouldn't be too hard to scare up all the variable-speed parts from one of this board's many freakishly devoted early A-body fans! Interchange is '64-'66 Dart, Valiant, Barracuda.

I have two variable speed switches, one from a '63 and one from a '64 with windshield washer button. So I would need motor, cam and linkage. Would I need the pivots that the wiper arms connect too?

The link bar that connects to the motor's crank arm is different, IIRC, but all other linkage is the same. Either the '63 or '64 switch will work. The '65-'66 switch didn't have the "tunnel-through" washer switch like the '64 switch has; instead, you simply pressed the whole wiper knob to activate the washer pump.

I inadvertently bought a complete variable speed setup for a '63 B-body (switch, motor, pivots, wiper arms, wiper blades, linkage, wiring harness). I suppose nothing interchanges over to the A-body?

The switch might be made to work, if its stem happens to be the same length as needed for your '65, but there'll be no windshield washer provision.
