Should we all send an e-mail to Mopar Muscle?

Post subject:  Should we all send an e-mail to Mopar Muscle?
Got my newest Mopar Muscle magazine (volume 21, #7, July 2008, although it's May in my calender...weird) yesterday and skimmed through it today.
On page 112 in the Bench Racing section Cody Christiansen asks if it would be time to build slant sixes in their Engine Challenge.
The answer is that there "is such a limited following for those engines that I can almost guarantee we wouldn't get enough shops to participate. Their cool, but 98-percent of our readership wants V-8 stuff."
Should we each and everyone send Mopar Muscle an e-mail so they would be aware of all of us that are into slant sixes, or do you think it's vain?
But what is the right e-mail adress? Is it:mopar.muscle@sourceinterlink.com?
That address is used in the Performance Clinic and Rare Finds sections, but I didn't find any mentioned in the Bench Racing section.

It stuns me that, according to Mopar Muscle, the readership wants to read about the same engines and the same cars, over and over again. Not that it can't be true, but I'm amazed that more people aren't interested in variety.

But then my boredom with E-bodies is well-documented, along with Camaros, Mustangs, and any and all cars that "everyone likes".

If someone can track down an address, I'll drop 'em another line (AGAIN), although I'm not optimistic that it will do much good. Now if EVERYONE registered at slantsix.org would contact them, then maybe...

As fuel prices continue to increase, I get more calls and emails from all those V8 owners asking questions about building Slants.

My guess is that we will continue to see some increased interest from some of the "daily driver" Mopar owners who want to drive their cars, but that 8 mpg big block has them reviewing their options. One of those options is to install a SL6 so they can still drive that "cool old car" with-out going broke paying for the gas.

If the Mopar mags do any new SL6 stories, I bet it will be along the "fuel savings" line of thought.

If everyone wanted one the prices for old slant stuff would rise, super six setups from junk yards would no longer be a cheap swap, maybe some cool new parts would come from it but I doubt it.

I really doubt any new parts would come from renewed interest in the slant. I agree that used performance parts would go up in price. I would predict Offy and Clifford selling some more manifolds and more new performance cams and such being bought new, but that's about it. We might get some more traffic and new members here too.

The reality of it is.....MM is right, most guys with a 60's or early 70's Mopar want and go with a V-8, and the slant enthusiast crowd is rather small. (It's better that way, to some extent.)
If I had to make a suggestion, the next engine challenge would probably be a V-6 of some common size.

I suggest you save the postage stamp for something more practical.

I think the escalating price of crushed scrap is a far bigger problem than the few, new slant enthusiasts a magazine article might inspire. At least as far as the availability for cheap boneyard parts goes.

My issue with the Mopar rags is that even if they build a Slant it is usually some cobbled together POS that you can't duplicate for less than $10K because they use mega dollar parts to appease advertisers. :roll:

Watch any thread on Moparts/Moparchat about installing a Slant for gas mileage. You'll see 100 people telling you to put in a 318, and maybe 4 of us defending the Slant. :evil:

I agree with Dan, we should probably keep our mouths shut on this one. A lot of us like slants and the cars they are in because they're different from the norm. If they become the norm then what do we move on to? 273's?

I disagree.
If there is a bit of interest in the 6 due to the rising fuel prices (and seriously, it's not going to get cheaper), we may see some new products.
It would be great to walk in and buy something straight of the shelf to suit.

No, I agree with Dan, at the moment the cars are getting harder to find... with renewed interest in 'economy' the only new products would be tailored for 'economy' not 'performance'... and the price would be $$$ after that... technically, with this thought in mind, the first thing that would get batted around the park would be the old 'Feather Duster' topic... also with anything good comes some bad items, along with economy parts comes 'pollution controls' to keep up with today's way of thinking 'green'...
