Greetings,

On the last day of the season I lost oil pressure in my sl6 dragster. I pulled the pan/pump/bearings last night and found a stripped oil pump gear. The teeth are gone all the way around and the pump turns by hand normally (not locked up). Cam gear looks fine. Bearings are trashed, but the crank looks perfect so it looks like I got lucky. I'll pull it all the way down and clean/inspect everything this winter.

Doc, I've printed your oil pump problem sheet and will fill it out and mail when I get the rest of the motor looked at.

This motor has around 50 runs on it, but I didn't assemble it so I'm not sure what's been done with respect to oil passages, gear mesh, etc.

We would like to check your failed gear for hardness so send it to Burnie if you can.
We have already tested a few and they seem pretty soft, in your case, that may have saved you a cam gear.
We really have to get this issue solved fast, this has happened to many racers, to many times.
