| Post subject: | Z-bar failure |
I pulled into the driveway and pushed in the clutch pedal which didn't come back up. I looked under the hood, and the z-bar had moved over toward the engine, coming off the body-mounted ball stud. I had recently rebuilt the z-bar with new bushings and seals, but didn't get a new clip which clips on the z-bar, replaced the old one. Did I do something wrong possibly? From time to time I make a mistake, I find. Has this happened to anyone, or does anyone have any insight they can share. |

OK I took it apart, and plan to assemble it out of the car. It's a good car that dies in the driveway instead of on the road. |

Somewhere between new /6, column 3 to floor 4, and a frame replacement from the door forward, the space between the ball studs grew 1/2 inch. I moved the one mounted to the frame over 1/2", should have moved the other one, it turned out. Still, with a few modifications, everything lines up better and the clip clicked in. Thank you Veterans and active personnel, on Memorial Day. |
