Dayco is a long-established American company who've been supplying automotive belts and hoses for many, many years. Unfortunately, they now seem to be supplying garbage. The third set of premium Dayco "Top Cog" belts just came off my truck, delaminated and missing chunks, and they've only been on there for six months at most. The set before that lasted a little less time than that. All the pulleys are clean, straight, and rust-free. The belts were tensioned correctly. They just plain fell apart way too soon. Got some Gates belts on order; we'll see how those hold up, but I'm very disappointed -- Dayco used to sell good stuff.

Dayco, just recently, laid off a lot of people from the Ocala, Fl. plant.

H'mmm. Anyone care to guess which "developing" country they've "outsourced product" to? *spit*

Yeah, the last 2 of their SB bypass hoses (you know the one; that "question mark" shaped one connecting the water pump and intake manifold) I had, didn't last either; I chalked it up to them being (at least IIRC) GM's OE supplier for belts and hoses, my Mopars "rejecting" them; I have bought all my belt/hose products from Car Quest for some years now (Gates supplies them) and they seem to hold up OK.

Gone the way of Borg-Warner, to mention just one...

consitering how many of the older cars that use v type belts aren't on the road anymore; I'm glad that manufacturers still even recognize that there is a little demand for such 'obsolete' machines! ...but it is rather frustrating to replacing a new part with a new part, and wonder if there is a shortened lifespan built into parts; just for the sake of moving more units..

It's a government conspiracy........

They don't want those old smog-spewing unreliable cars on the road.

Have enough problems and you'll breakdown and buy a new non-smog-spewing "reliable" car............
