I got the wiring figured out . But now I need to know , If using the proper heat sink and also using an extra ground wire can I put a cover over it to hide it or do I need to leave it exposed. Heres my plan I have an extra stock 78 harness for the ignition system . What I'm doing is , Using a different ballast resistor jumping it together in the back ,tie the wires in near the coil, and what I have done is I took an old stock EI Module and gutted it ran 5 new wires under it for the GM Module one of them being the extra ground . So once I bolt on the GM Mod I want to bolt the gutted stock module over it . Minus the Blaster 2 coil this setup looks 100% stock ,as I have incorporated the use of the factory module wiring to my conversion . I just don't know if the GM Module needs the extra cooling , other than the aluminum heat sink . I could always use a couple of washer under the base of the Stock module to "jack it up " to allow extra air to get in . Just looking for opinions here . Thanks Jim |

You can cover it. Stock, the module was inside the distributor. The company I work for used to sell a 7 pin HEI module inside a mounting box, and I don't believe we had any of them fail from inadequate cooling. |

Matt, could we have a link to the company you work for, again?

Thank You I just got done with the Mod , and of course with my luck I missed the 50/50 chance of getting the pick up wires right . I still need to do the plugs ,wires car ,and rotor . But she does bump fire (I had my tune close ) . I read up on posting pictures , but Im not that smart on these computers, anyway the only thing that doesn't look original is the new bolt I used to go through the wire harness connector into the factory module ,other than that (and the blaster 2 coil ) nobody could ever tell I did this mod. |
