We did a valve adjust per some added info Doug supplied at Medford.

Rob noticed something that I hadn't. The middle six push rods are turning, but fairly slowely. The push rods on either end of the engine are spinning much more rapidly.

Is this anything to be concerned about? Oil flow appears to be similar at all the rockers.

How are you judging the speed of its spinning? I thought some of my pushrods were doing funny things too - I was looking at the scratches in the rods but soon realized they were spinning so fast it almost looked like they were standing still.

With the engine off paint a skinny vertical stripe on each rod using white-out or similar bright paint. That should make it easier to tell.

With the engine running, touching the oil on the pushrod creates a smudge that can be watched.

How fast should the pushrod be turning at an idle? Some of them are spinning very rapidly. Others take a second or more to turn a full revolution.

How fast they turn is irrelevant. They just have to turn.

Agreed... as long as they are turning, you are good.
If you ever find a lifter that does not turn... Shut down and swap-out the lifter until you find one that does turn. If you don't, you will have a flat cam lobe before you know it.

Good Deal! :D

The valve adjust made the engine run smoother and idle better. It still seems just a tad off.

I'm going to replace the stack gasket today. It wasn't looking very happy.
