Can you replace the camshaft without removing the motor in a 73 Duster? I saw the article for the 65 dart, but can you do it in the Duster? |

74 and some 75's, ones with out the peanut plug head. They have smaller passages for pulling out the lifters. |

Im removing the head and getting a valve job, but I was wondering since I have half the motor off I might up the cam a little. If I need to take the block out I will leave it alone. If I can pull it out the front then I will go for it. |

You can do it... remove the radiator and see how your clearance is... you may have to jack the engine up a bit and loosen the motor mounts to get the angle right, but you should be able to do it.... Sadly, once you start in on one thing... it's actually easier to work on the whole thing out in the open so you can get to 'stuff' easier (like pulling the oil pump to get the cam out... you still have to jack up that side of the engine to get that sucker loose and out... then clean the surfaces and regasket it so you don't have leaks... -D.Idiot |

I did it on mine and honestly its just easier to simply remove the engine. You can rent an engine hoist pretty cheap. I bought a hoist AFTER having removed and installed my engine at least 10 times. (each time I thought it would be the last) |

Still working on it ya guys might be right.Alot more work than I want to do right now. I just need a cruiser. Each time I take off something I want to replace another. The motor isn't all that bad I just have one bad valve so I might just do a valve job right now. Thanks for your help everybody. Mopars4life |
