Can the speedometer cable and pinion gear from a 65 valiant be matched to a 1970 904 trans? I'm trying to figure out if I can continue to use my car's gauges to work with the newer transmission.

No, but a 1966 Valiant speedo cable will work. It has the correct end for the 65 speedo head, and the 1970 trans.

Yep, the cable you need is a '67-'70 Dart or Valiant item.

Dan, didn't the connection at the speedo head change from the screw on to the snap on, between 66 and 67?

Pretty sure the plastic push-on connection came out for '71, but I could be wrong. Lemme look...

...*time passes, keyclick noises*...

Looks like you're right; the cable needed is a '66-'67 only item. ATP #Y803. Learn somethin' new every day, thanks for the correction.

can the screw on plug of the later cable be used to 'retrofit' the older cable?
