| Post subject: | SBP wheels: best choices for Scarebird disc conversion |
Hi Everyone - new to the forum so apologies if this has been covered already: I'm looking for suggestions for upgrading my 1964 Valiant wheels from SBP 13" to SBP 14"; I'm changing out the 9" front drum set up for the Scarebird disc conversion. It looks very straightforward, but I've heard different comments on caliper clearance for this set up using 14" Mopar wheels. Also, in terms of after market wheels, will American Racing Outlaw II Wheels (14'' x 7'', 5 x 4'', Rear Spacing: 4'', 0 offset) clear the calipers on these early A -bodies with the Scarebird conversion? I'd hate to bite the bullet and buy new Outlaw II mags/ tires and have caliper /rotor interference. What stock / Rally wheels have good clearance of caliper / wheel wells with the Scarebird conversion on these early A bodies? I'm just as happy to have steel wheels and dog dish caps. Any suggestions are much appreciated -thanks in advance! |

I'd personnaly try and find the Kelsey Hayes SBP disc brake setup. no clearance isssues with 14"wheels. rotors are getting hard to find but thats about the only issue. |

I have the Scarebird setup on my Daughters 72 Valiant but used the 10 inch spindles,I really like the setup,it stops staight and quick. As far as wheels I am using American Racing AR-62 wheels and they clear fine but the Factory Rallye wheels work well and would fit your 64 better as far as fender clearance goes,IMO. HyperValiant |

This is good to know. Thinking about the Scarebird conversion for my 66 Valiant. The Valiant project is on a tight budget, and most upgrades are right out of the wrecking yard. My one big bucks purchase is going to be a set of Outlaw 2 wheels, just love the look. |

I went ahead and got a set of 14" Rally Wheels, since I know now they will clear, and as was mentioned, they fill the wheel wells nicely. Thanks everyone for your comments and advice. |
