I am a new member. I just saved a pristine 66 Dart 6 225 from the crusher. It lived its life with a granny, her son couldn't sell it for twenty-five hundred, so I picked it up for a grand, in place of him donating it. I had done well in cutting down my addiction to oldies, but couldn't pass this one up. Glad I found this group, as it was a large part in me going ahead. Two beginning questions:

1. Has anyone heard or done anything with seat extenders? It has a bench seat. I would like to be able to sit back further from the wheel. There is plenty of room behind. In taking the seat out, the manual shows two adjusting bolts on each side, but I sure couldn't find them. It must have been for the Coronet. I remember somewhere, for a different line (Chevy's maybe) some after market outfit made extenders or a rail that you could use to sit the seats back further. Any ideas? Anyone move their bench seats back?

2. The 13 inch wheels seem small for this car. However, it has manual/drum brakes and no power steering, so I guess that is why they had the wheels so small. I see 14 inch wheels listed for disc brakes. I would like to improve the lines with better wheels. What have folks done with wheels for 13 inches? Just paint them and put baby moons on? Any source for aluminum 13'ers?

Many thanks.

Bill

Do you want to stick with the 13" wheels, or are you thinking about going for 14" wheels? There aren't that many options for small bolt wheels (14" steel, Cragars, Keystones, aluminum slots, small bolt rally wheels, and American Racing Outlaws).

I've included a link to a good article about A-body wheels and tires below.

If you are interested, I have a set (4) of small bolt steel Mopar 14x4.5J wheels from a '68 Dart that I would be willing to sell. Or, if you want to stick with 13", I have a nice set of 13" full hubcaps which I can't use (see the picture of my car in the profile).
