Post subject: | Sparkplug type and crush washers ? |
Hi, In researching various sparkplug information posts/searches in here. I see that that NGK plugs are recommended. (With crush washers removed. Is the reason for removing them to get a better oil seal ?) I will go with these recommendations on my next plug change. But in the meantime? I have new sparkplug tube 'rubber seals' and perfectly good AC-Delco "R45XLS" plugs (that do cross reference to NGK plug #2635, per "Car-Quest") So, until I do a plug change? are the AC-Delco's OK ? If so, should I discard the crushwashers on them ? Thanks in advance ! ![]() |

See this post. The metal ring washers are not used on '63-'74 heads. It's to do with electrode positioning and spark plug running temperature, not oil sealing. The ACs will be fine until it's time to change to new plugs; the NGK ZFR5Ns will work a little better. |
