So if i want to build for say 6500 rpm, i need forged rods and pistons, stronger valve retainers, 340 springs, roller lifters?, high performance bearings, and a good crankshaft. Now my real question is what is the best crank out there? Seeing as the truck cranks are getting more rare and expensive, i was wondering if an alternative would be to take a forged car crank and get it shot peened or something by a machine shop. Any experience with this one anybody? |

That is what I did. It doesn't cost much for them to do that. I had them do the rods too.... Go with a double roller chain too. |

Another possibility would be to have you internals Chryo-treated. Seems the procedure doesn't make a stronger part, but a very long-wearing part. Check it out.....there's more than one pro racer doing it. Roger |
