Calling around for a set of solids for my reground cam (Oregon Cam regrind RV2 248/218-.435) and so far....$110 to $120 WTF?!!! IIRC a set of 12 solid lifters used to be $19 to $29 bucks,3 or 4 years ago when I had the cam reground.I'll call Oregon Cam tomorrow & see what theyr'e asking for 12 solids, prettysure they want a reasonable price.Anyone careto chime in w/price & vendor of set of solid lifters,I'm curious what the price range is on these. Thanks |

I am sure I stashed several sets of excellent ones. If you can stand used, sent to you free for postage. And some pushrods too if you want em but I always got new rods from Melling. rock '64d100 |

The price fluctuates depending on supply... go back to 6-7 years ago and the price is pretty spot on... back in 2000-2001 Fed Mog was changing and had stopped making lifters, even the chevy crowd was bellyaching at that time because supplies were short... (so when prices are down I squirrel away a rainy day set...) -D.Idiot |

3 or 4 years ago, a gallon of gas cost about 1/3 what it does now, too. ![]() |

Many automotive machine shops and cam grinders can resurface used lifters for a few $$ each. I do this every so-often and get a better price when I do 3 or 4 sets at once. A reground cam used with a set of resurfaced lifters and a milled cylinder head keeps the valve geometry surprising close to the factory's lay-out. DD |
