Does anyone have a phone number for the special head gasket, used with the aluminum block. I have no clue what company sells them, but im gonna need one asap.

Also, anyone want to comment on why the cylinders "walk" with 225-300 hp?

There is no top "deck" on an Alm. SL6 so there is not a lot of support to keep 6 inches++ of free standing cylinder barrel from moving around.

It's propably possible; I Have seen it done in to a Russian four cylinder engine. Actually it was done by removing the liner, welding the deck solid, boring holes for new liners (maybe you could go bigger too?), installing liners and boring holes around the liners for water circulation. These mods made the weak block good for about 600 hp (out of a 1.5 litre) and was good for low 10 second ET's at over 140 mph in a 2500 lbs street Moskvitsh!

Take a look at some of the 1.8L Acura engines. They have an open deck also and there are companies that make a billet support plate that slides over the sleeves and between the block itself. It helps let these little engines put out lots of power.

Machining some braces and pressing or "potting" them in place would be a good way to go.

I would not advise welding the top deck shut on the Alm. SL6 Block.
I've been there, done that. Welding the deck closed on one of these is a bunch of work and puts a lot of stresses into the block. The one shown below worped .030 down the main bearing line.
