This tank from Ricks is great. Between this, and the new coil fixing the ignition problems, the car starts right up just like an OEM design. It needs some tuning now, but nothing serious at all. Both fixes were essential. The coil, of course had to be changed. NO doubt about it. But once this was done, it still took several tries before it would fire with the surge tank, etc. Obviously the surge tank was effecting the fuelrail pressure upon initial cranking. Now it fires and catches after a second or two of cranking. If it does not pick right up to rpm and keep running, it is because the after start mix is still not quite right for the ECT, which can be played with over time. It all feels and sounds good. This is the first time I have been truely happy with the efi since changing over to it. If I had made this fuel tank change before changing to Accel, I would likely still be using Mega Squirt. I kind of think this style tank in some form is a good idea for anyone going EFI. NOt doing this in the begining to save money was not worth the heartache. I would skip all that, spend the money, and take a little more time to collect the parts if needed. An in-tank pump is a very, very good idea. Awesome. I am deliberating on tank stuff for the two Darts. This will likely go into the 68. Biggest problem with the '64 is fuel slosh out the filler neck on hard cornering due to the almost horizontal early design. I either need a baffled neck, or I may just put an ATL fuel cell in it with in-tank pump (if my wallet can take it). Lou |

You don't need a surge tank if you can get reliable pick up from a rear mounted pump. My original set up, with a frame mounted pump was not reliable. It had a serious dry moment under certain movements of the car. The surge tank was an attempt to band aid the problem. I would not do that again, but move right to an in-tank pump set up. Sandy, I do have photos, but don't have a server to post them on. I sent some to Pierre, and he posted them in one of these threads. I will look for them and let you know where they are. I can e-mail you photos if you would like. They are home on my PC, and not on my lap top. Edit: Look at the thread, New Tank Has Arrived. The next to last post on page one is photos of the tank posted by Pierre. I don;t know how to post a link to another post within the forum. Anyone want to clue me in on that? Sam |

I know, that is so easy, even a kid could do it. Trouble is, I'm not a kid anymore. Maybe I can get a kid to help me out with it. Seriously, I have one kid who is great with this stuff. Thanks for the tip. l better be careful, I might learn something here. Sam |
