Who makes a good TC for our : motors? $500 ones are out as of now It will probably run OK with the stock converter if you get the timing curve right. Chad has run this cam, so he might have more insight on this. Pretty much any slant will be waked up with higher stall. I would get a 9.5" or 10" converter, which should stall around 2500. ALWAYS buy a converter rated for about 800-1200 RPM higher on a V8, for example: V8 rating is 3000, stall is 22-2300 on a slant, V8 rating is 3600-4000, stall is 2800-3000 on a slant. I just bought an A500 lockup converter from SMR in Canada (see Mopar Action ad), and it seems very well built. I have bought GER converters in the past, but they don't build their base models tough, their quality control is atrocious (bent flywheel gear and mis-drilled holes) and they are a serious pain to deal with (lied to me about shipping times and parts availability - took 3 weeks, when they swore 1 day). Continental Converter in Inglewood, CA does very good work and can build you one (use directory assistance). Figure on spending $300-500, no less, it's worth it. I have liked the 2800-3000 stall converters I've had because they behave basically like stock ones on the street and hwy until you hammer on it, then they really rip. Cheers, Lou |

This is There rating. Dale Rose runs a P.T.C. in his car and has been to the company many times. The arrow he purchased there is a Don Ness Race Craft that P.T.C. used as a r&d test car. The company is located in Muscle Shoals Ala. Dale said that these folks know what there doing and has watched them build converters. I belive you can call them and give them the specs on the car and they can build the right converter. thanks Ron rpracing@catt.com |
