That's a little past what I'd consider a mild street cam. If you have a stock torque converter is probably too much cam duration or too tight a torque converter. What's your static compression ratio? How about the cranking compression in PSI? |

Hee hee hee And I always thought the guys from the states was the Bigger and Better gang Had it wrong it was OZ!! Mate that is way past a mild street cam low idle vac will be the result |

'Mild' Street cam stops about 270 duration depending on the grind... Quote: Mate that is way past a mild street cam low idle vac will be the result
Yep, some ways to combat that are to change the grind and reduce your overlap... but then that would kill the performance of the stick some what...Quote: And I always thought the guys from the states was the Bigger and Better gang
That would be the V-8 group that keeps putting 300 duration sticks into their chevy 350 thinking it'll work out great going to the grocery store... -D.Idiot |

HEY ALL... THE SPECS ARE 7740 IN. 32/68 DURATION 280..@.050OF 228 EX.73/33 DURATION 286 @.050 OF 234 power range of 2000-5500. its only low lift thought of .400both sides with a .14"in and a .16" exhaust lash ... they say its for warm street performance .. there hot street cam has 292 duration and 237@.050 with a 33/72 timing with .442"lift ... and street cam ... i dint think so the power started @3200-6000 humm can you say big stall.....oh my stall is a 2000 rpm street convertor . and has 3.23-1 lsd .. the lumpy black sheep |

I bet the lash is too tight, or cam is far retarded. You should have way more idle vacuum with that cam. Try 0.016" int/0.022" exh and see if better, or even more lash. Most of my perf cams set up at over 0.020" int and 0.025" exh. Lou |

Hi Blacky, Ran the cam numbers through a simulation - what kind of CR are you running? I took it a bit high with that duration - 10.5 static - and I advanced the cam until I saw torque drop then backed it up 6 degrees advance looks like a good setting. Higher Vac gives higher torque Also try the loser lash setting as suggested - will reduce over lap slightly With that in place it looks like a nice cam |

Post subject: | COMPRESSION ..and the drive |
HEY ALL the static compression is 9.50-1 but i as yet have not done a hot compression test i will do that tomorrow or the next day.. .. it`s running quite well i've only done about 300 miles and i am still getting a handle on the tune toady . i have gone down to 5"hg springs in the edelbrock. and backed off the vac advance can now at , 5 turns ccw . i have a slight ping at 55 mph the goes away on the cruise but is there on very light throttle .. the driveablity is good with a in gear idle of 750rpm and in park 950ish . it seems to have pretty good down low and above 1200 rpm its almost like its not there ,, but above 2500 WOW stand on it and the speedo flys around ,, yours the black sheep NOW with a black helmet ,,, baa |

hey all i`ve been a little busy boy the compression is 125 psi on all with 130 ish on a wet test .( with a small amount oil injected in to the pot to see if the rings are still good) i reset the tappets to .014 on the intake and .016"on the exhaust .. a few where a little tight .. the idle is a little better with a much smoother cruise .. the ajustment on the vac can worked a treat the black sheep |
