Hi,
I need to take the heater box out again for service and will have it out for a few weeks,....in the mean time I still need to drive the car ( '72 Plymouth Valiant /6). I will be removing the heater hoses from the engine compartment temporarilly while the heater box is serviced. Has anyone come up with or found a hose that has 1/2" on one end and 5/8" on the other end with the needed run from the head to water pump to complete this bypass and look tidy under the hood? What are your suggestions or solutions ? what has worked for you? and thanks, nico

If it's temporary, who cares about looks...........

2 options:

1. get a copper pipe reducer for 1/2" to 3/8" pipe (5/8" OD , 1/2" OD) and the 2 different size hoses
2. Cap off the outlet/inlet (1/2" and 3/8" copper caps with short sections of hose (or anything that has an 1/2" and 5/8" OD))

Just run a rubber hose looped or use rubber block off caps. I ran mine for over a month before I took the van off the road to 'restore' it. I don't see the issue with a difference 1/2 or 5/8, its rubber, it will snug down with straps

I have had bypass caps on my Volare's water pump for years. I live in Texas, and being without the heater isn't an issue for me.

You live in a whole 'nother part of Texas than I do.

Here in Lubbock, heaters get to be important.

I see your point. Temporarily, it should be fine for you, for the Summer anyway.
