Post subject: | Heat riser box |
Hello, While redoing the intake/exhaust studs, gaskets and so on, I have come to the conclusion that the heat riser box which installs beneath the manifolds, is not worthy of re-installation. ( That it didn't fall off is surprising ) Any thoughts on where one of these might be procured? Thank-you |

The heat riser valve is built into the exhaust manifold. Which part, exactly, are you referring to as a separate piece? |

Hi The piece I speak of is a metal shroud that bolts with two fasteners and then an aluminum hose attaches to this and provides heat up to the carb. Its construction appears to be light sheetmetal |

It helps on cold start ups, and is especially handy on very cold winter days. The aluminum hose hooks to it and is routed up to your snorkel inlet. I run mine religiously! |

Ah, that's not part of the heat riser. It's the thermostatic air cleaner heat stove. They go by on eBay from time to time, though I don't see any at the moment. They're all the same from '70 (first year) through '87 (last year). Definitely worth having, as Ted says. |

Doesn't that piece have a bracket on it which is used for the kickdown linkage? |

The bracket is bolted to the manifold bolts, the heat stove bolts to it with a couple of shorty bolts...-D.Idiot |
