Hello,
Ok, I followed the instructions on the intake exhaust gasket replacement article, and so far it seems to be working out. Waited for the GPRS gasket to arrive. They sent it via the speediest kangaroo. I do have a small leak from between the two manifolds even after preparing the surfaces and using a new steel gasket. I have found that the general overall condition of the manifolds is poor. The exhaust is heavily pitted, including the flange surfaces,( to some extent) however I believe this repair should provide good service for some time to come, and give me time to figure what other options are available.

Russ,

GPRS also has a better, soft gasket for between the two manifolds.

If you have a small leak now, it will get larger as it eats away the gasket and will probably wear away your manifold making it harder to seal next time. It may take a week or 2 years but I’d want to get it fixed soon as possible.

Russ,

My exhaust manifold stove box was in very poor shape, so I had it resurfaced. The aluminum intake was new so the surface was perfect.
The RemFlex gasket is extra thick and will help seal the joint better than the stock metal gasket.

Yup, the stamped-stainless gasket will leak. If you're lucky it won't leak much. If you're typical it will leak significantly. But it will leak. I thought GPRS were selling the manifold-to-head gasket and the inter-manifold gasket as a package...? Anyhow, the problem will go away when you put the better gasket in there.
