I did a bit of research and it turns out that ALL CHRYSLERLA and RB V8 AND SLANT SIXES use the same rotor pulled apart my spare dizzyis to see what govenors weights etc I have - 318 ones slant sixes etc and then PARTNUMBER - 1838516 appaered in most of the dizzies - and it has a considerable longer electrode and is of a better quality - I came across 1962 - 1973 tuneup kits NOS Mopar- FOR ALL CHRYSLER V8 and 6 Cylinder Makes life a bit easier. |

Not all of them, but almost. The dual-point big blocks and the Canadian-made '60-'66 slant-6s used Prestolite distributors that take a different rotor, and some Australian-made slant-6s and V8s used Bosch or Lucas distributors that take different rotors. But yeah, all the aluminum-body Chrysler distributors for slant-6s, 3.9 V6s, and small and big V8s (except '88-'91 EFI 3.9 V6s and 5.2 & 5.9 V8s) take the same rotor. 1838 516 was one of several part numbers for it (1658 535 was another). From '62-'66 or so, a variant 2098 770 was used on the slant-6s. It had a longer, narrower tip and was used in conjunction with a distributor cap with wider contacts. All of the preceeding P/Ns are long obsolete. In '75 or so, the rotor's tip was shortened significantly and P/N 3874 401 assigned. This P/N is still valid. None of the above OE rotors have as long a tip as the Echlin MO-3000. |
