Did a little junk yarding yesterday and found four 15x7 cop car wheels. Got them for $11 each.. now I need to find the dog dish style hub caps.. preferably the ones with the little holes around the outer edge, but I'll take anything that will look cool. Any sugestions out there on possible sources of reproductions, or good used versions? Or do any of you guys have some you would like to get rid of? thanks, matt- mhaskell@reliant.com |

You can get the plain dog dishes off of any 1/2 ton dodge truck or van from the '70s, and some '60's. I think Year One might have them, but they'll be a pretty penny. Hope the Valiant is going well. : Hope the Valiant is going well. : Lou Hey Lou, Things are starting to happen with the valiant. Actually drove the thing around the block the other day. First time on the 5speed. Clutch was dragging a little making it hard to shift, especially reverse.. If you remember I'm using a mcleod hydro Throw Out bearing and a toyota truck master cyl.. turns out I blew it a little figuring out piston volumes and linkage ratios.. I'll be replacing the toyota master with one from wilwood (only $43) that has the same bore size and 0.4" more stroke, which will be perfect, and my wife will still be able to depress the pedal without getting a leg cramp.. Haven't swapped in the 8-3/4 or the front discs yet, wanted to see some results from the trans swap before I changed more stuff.. Changing too many things at once is a perfect way to get in trouble.. matt-- mhaskell@reliant.com |

I'd love to see the car before I leave LA, especially to pick your brain about the hydro clutch setup that I hope to duplicate when I swap the T5 into my '64. I finished the A500 OD and KH disc swap on the '68 Dart, and it is really cool. Cheers, Lou |

So you kept the small BP on the '68, but you went to the newer stuff on the '64.. so much for parts swapping between cars.. Yea, I read one of your posts on the OD swap.. sounds really cool. Did the adapter plate cause any depth problems with your torque converter to trans coupling? Just curious, don't know much about those awful-tragics, I mean, automatics.. 5-speed swap.. I would do it differently next time.. If I do, I'll sell off this setup. first things first, though, I need to get this on the road.. But once I get around to it, I want to do a supra 5spd setup, got interested in it from a guy who was using it behind a buick, and from there I learned about the australian guy (castlemansrodshop)who makes all kinds of bellhousings for trans swaps, but none for the 'yota box to slant.. It's a superior gear box compared to the t-5's, even the world class versions, and it's cheaper and pretty common in the pull-yor-parts.. down side is it was a weird case to bell mounting pattern, no normal round bearing retainer.. so some funky machining needs to be done.. It'll probably be summer before I get into that ball of fun.. Yea, we should catch up.. when are you moving? matt- mhaskell@reliant.com |

I kept the SB pattern on the '68 because I had a bunch of KH parts sitting around, and I'm blessed with many sets of SB wheels, so there ya go. The trans clearances were fine because the adapter plate comes with a sneaky extension ring for the crank to flex plate, equal to the thickness of the engine/trans plate. I got your 15X7 Jeep wheels on the front of my '64 for my recent road racing, and they are at least 5-6 pounds lighter than the Mopar steel wheels. Got some Yokohama AVS intermediate tires on there too - pretty sticky for a street tire. I'll look into the Supra box, but right now my plan is to plunk down $1100 for a brand new Super Duty T5 from Ford Racing, so I'll never have to worry about it. We'll see.... Cheers, Lou |
