I search but all I get are folks swapping 6 to 8... as part of my ongoing quest to gather parts and get my shi... uh, project vehicles finally up & running, I may be getting a 73 Dart Sport (Duster) as a parts car for an 8 swap into my Valiant. The DS is a factory 318, 3-speed manual floor-shift car. No drivetrain. Curiousity hits me - how would a built /6 - T5 go in this car? Any sweet el cheapo mount tricks to do this "backwards" 8-to-6 engine swap with the existing 8 K frame? I'm thinking light, fun car to drive and 25 mpg... ~Scott |

I have done this by welding-up some special engine mount brackets. The job is harder to do if the orginal V-8 is not in the car because I use mark the crank's centerline onto the K-frame before pulling the V-8. Then it is a matter of installing the replacement SL6 & trans, attaching the rear trans mount and shifting the engine around untill the crank's centerline matches the mark. I use a level to get the tilt correct, then start cutting cutting and welding the mount brackets. This photo show a "home-made" mount bracket to fit a SL6 to a V-8 K-frame. DD
