I installed a new oil pump and switched out the nipple that came with the new pump for the old stand pipe. While doing so I was looking at the end of the stand pipe that goes in the pump and saw the restriction at the end where the little three pointed flat valve plate seals off to the stand pipe. Then I noticed how much that little valve and spring have to restrict the oil flow. I mean this has to be the most restrictive thing in the whole oil path and its the very first thing the oil hits.
So I wacked off the restriction on the stand pipe so it is the same size all the way through and removed the valve plate and spring. Now I have heard there is an oil filter that has a built in antidrain back valve. But will the stand pipe sticking up into the filter interfer with the filiters valve function?
Should it stay or should it go now, If it stays will there be trouble, or if it goes will it be double?

If you will use the filter with the built-in standpipe, then use the low-type straight-through fitting that came with the new oil pump, for minimum flow restriction as you note.

See here and here.

Not to jack the thread but what about using a remote mount for the filter, would that totally negate the need of the stand pipe wether its in the filter or on the pump ?
