OK, I need some help.I put a Holley red fuel pump in my car with a fuel cel,and 3/8 line up to a junction block under the hood and split it there. One line for the carburator and one line for the nitrous.I have a gauge located in the junction block.Holley says the pump makes 5-7 psi.I can only get 3-3.5.I have a 10 micron filter(canister type) located just before my pump in the back. There's a steady flow of fuel from the tank to the filter.I called Holley and the said that I should put the filter after the fuel pump ? It's all plumbed with #10 AN before the pump?I just replaced the pump with another red one as the first one was noisy and it appeared that it was the pump at fault.Still only muster 3-3.5 psi(only had 2-2.5 before). The fuel pressure gauge is a liquid filled Jegs unit and appears to operate fine (the needle moves freely). When I first turned on the new pump I had almost 4.5 psi then drove the car about 5 miles and rechecked the fuel pressure, only 3-3.5?.I have the pump wired through a relay and checked voltage at the pump and I have full juice.Nitrous Express reccommends 5 psi for the system. There are no kinks in any of the lines.Any good ideas? I just don't think I need to step up to a full return system and a larger pump. :?

First thing you do is throw away the liquid filled gauge, especially if it is one of those little chrome screw-in ones. If you have an Autometer or some such as that, take the fill plug out of it so it can vent.

I fought fuel pressure issues with mine until I threw away a liquid filled gauge. They are incredibly innaccurate, especially when they get warm.

A red pump will be borderline if it only makes 7.5. When you launch the car and hit the spray you will have a pressure drop that pump may not recover from.

I use the old reliable Holley blue pump. It will dead-head to 14. I run 5.5 and have no issues with pressure. I do not run a by-pass system either. :D

I agree on not trusting a POS Jegs guage.

Also, a fine filter like yours really should go after the pump. Any restriction before the pump will cause the pump to cavitate and you'll never get good reliable pressure. A pre-filter pump should just be a gauze or wire-mesh type to catch particles big enough to hurt the pump, not a micron-sized one.

I pulled the filter out and rechecked the fuel pressure, still to low.I called Holley and they siad it should make 5-7 psi.I have a good fuel pressure gauge and have checked it against another one with the same results.Holley said the blue pump was a strip pump,it would work on the street but they still recommend a red pump? Are you running a regulator on your blue pump? I'm getting frustrated chasing my tail.Other then they are a lot on money I'm thinking of calling BG and see what they say.The little gremlins are what always get me but I need to make sure I have it right.I've heard to many bad stories about leaning out on nitrous and at this point there's no way I want to blow this thing up.I will say other then the fuel pressure issues and a couple of small things this slant runs like a V-8,only with more tourque and the transmission from 727 Specilites realy makes a diffrence(thanks for the contact SlantZilla)bang into gear when on it without any hestitation/Still need a better rear to go to the track but for now this one is good for tuning.

If you think you have trouble with a Holley pump, wait until you get a BG.

I have a Holley blue pump and matching regulator. I have had them for 20+ years.

Keith builds a great trans. :D

Well I gotta trust you guys that have been around the block a few times.I'm going to call and get a Holley Blue pump and regulator sent and install that and see what happens.I'm itching to flogg the beans out of this thing to make up and ease some of the frustrations. What are you running for a regulator? How do you know how much fuel presure you have if your not running a gauge?I'm really paraniod about spraying lean.I can't afford another one of the motors.I should have bought a create 406 and dropped it in .But I like something a little diffrent and I would have never met a great group of people like you.Looking forwards to running this thing and see wht it does, just gotta change the 7 1/4 rear.I don't like the 5800-6000 grand shifts and it won't hook good enough because it's only a one legger.I took you advice and hooked the 2 step to the line lock(couldn't do the brake lights 'cause it street driven mostly)Even with the open rear I can put quite a but to it and bounce it on the rev limiter for a reasonalbe launch (neighbors we pretty upset about the repeated expermite with this)With a good rear and posi I should be able to pour it to it.Well see,Thanks Paul :?

I Installed a electric fuel gauge on my set-up. I can watch the fuel pressure from inside the car, as I drive. (and make drag strip passes)
