That sure is going to hurt. The Bristol slant six race is that same weekend.

It will hurt even more. I just went to their website, and they have rules posted for the slant six race. No electronics, foot brake only, and gasoline only. It is also a $60 entry for a $500 purse. I guess they don't want any fast slant cars.

Look again Charlie, it's a $200 payout. :x

Looks to me like Sieveking doesn't want Slant cars there at all. We've almost always been treated like red haired step-children to start with. This pretty much tells the tale.

Actually, we're both wrong. It is a $400 purse.
$200 win + $100 RU = $300 + $50 ea semi (2)=$400

You know, for me it is not about the money. It is for the fun of doing this.
But the track shouldn't rip off people. I have been to other races, not just slant six races, where the payout was decent, and the entry was reasonable. Some tracks are even getting rediculus about TnT nights. The nearest track to me (Gainesville Raceway) is now $30 for a Wed TnT.
Just to go to the local track, costs about $100 (race gas, truck gas, nitrous, entry, etc.) I'm retired and just can't afford that week after week. So I go once in a while, when I have some extra money. I would rather save my money, and spend it going to a Slant race.

When I was up at Farmington, last month, their Fri TnT was only $10.
A few years ago, I went to Greer S.C. it was $5 per person to get into the track, (racing or watching) for TnT. Then they had a $5 entry gamblers race (100 % payback, winner take all). The place was packed. I have never seen so many people in the stands for a TnT much less for a "normal" race night. By making it "affordable" the track was getting the young folks in, with their friends, and making money.

Frank, usually they won't run us until they need space filler for cool down between rounds in the Gambler's race. We have sat until 8:30 at night before they ran the first round. I vowed never to return a couple times and Mike and Seymour talked me into going back because Scott promised things would get better. Last time I went they ran the first round at 4:30 and then went round robin on us. Oh yeah, we are usually done with time runs (or run) around noon.

Charlie, I only count the win money, everything else is immaterial. I hear ya though, just to go get my car and bring it to Joliet or 41, take it back, and come home is $140 in gas alone. 41 is now $40 for T&T, used to be $15. RT66 is $40 too, and the place is always packed, even though you only get 2 runs.

Oh well, I am going to work on the car Saturday and see if I can stop a couple leaks. Then, just a little more tuning and it's ready to rumble.

The date change really sux. Now I can't make it to the race. My kid's birthday is on that day. I don't think there will be much of a slant race from the sound of it.

Mike J is for sure not coming, I can't, you can't, that leaves the field pretty small.

My car doesn't fit the rules anymore anyway.

I thought last year they treated us good I had to travel Sunday and they let us race early so much for my charm. I would use 400 dollars of fuel at 4 dollars a galion just for the trip. Not counting two nites lodging and eats and ect. Aint going to happen Beside Bristol is probably going to be a1000 dollar race. See Yall Possum :D

Sounds like Slant 6 racing at Monster Mopars (St Louis) is going to "die" in 2008 which is sad, we need Mid West races, especially if we ever want to get an "East vs West" event to happen.

We need to keep our eyes out for a different event but truth is, not many Mopar only races are held in the middle of the USA.

Doug, the sad reality is that there just are not enough good Slant cars in the Midwest to lure any kind of sponsorship. I talked a personal friend into sponsoring us and even tossed in a bunch of money myself and still could not draw many cars.

The one year at St. Louis we did have a bunch of the Southern guys up here they treated us like crap and that pretty much killed it. My buddy finally pulled the plug because it netted him absolutely "0" in business for his shop too. :(

I do not understand the rules that Scott has posted for this year. It almost looks like he has the rules for Trophy Class in place of ours. The rules as posted means Slant Six Class will be street cars only? :?
