%$@! i almost was ready to fix the spedo cable and buy a disk break conv. off of craigslist. this is a major setback.

Check for blown exhaust gasket under side of manifold to head.

Tough to say from the vid. I would agree, though, it sounds like it might be an exhaust manifold leak (maybe blown gasket, more likely broken manifold).

thanks for the advice fopar, but it looks good infact brand new. i sprayed some stuff on there to check it. is there another way to check that. i am about to pull the valve cover and see whats up, the sound seems to come from the valve cover or water pump. but again i have no idea wtf i am doing.

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me too. Bent pushrods usually aren't that loud. With the engine cold start it up and see if you can feel a leak. Should be obvious by the amount of noise it's making.

just to make my self happy i pulled the valve cover and everything looks good. i turned the fan and watched the valves go up n down. i am gonna go get a valve cover gasket then check for leaks. but i have looked it over and it does seem fine. what am i looking for?

start pulling plug wire while she running and see if you can track the sound to one cylinder, sounds like one cylinder is dead to me ?

You might try squirting some oil into the carb enough to create some smoke out the exhaust. The leak if there is one, will be visible.

See if you can get Josh down sometime to give it a listen.

It's pretty hard to diagnose from the video.

If it's a pushrod just replace it, it's really easy all you need to do is remove the valve cover...

I'm in Vancouver, WA if you need one and can't find one i'll give you one, stock length.

well i just did just that. no leaks!

some nice smoke out my tail pipe but that was all.

you do have a mechanical fan, Maybe it's blowing the smoke away be fore it shows. try blocking the tail pipe some (about 1/2 way).
Just hoping for the best for you.

Before you tear into your engine, check to see if your converter bolts have loosened. More than one person (including me) have mistaken loose converter bolts for more serious engine problems.
