I have a double roller timing chain set from JP Performance and lost the instruction sheet for it ( :( ) and have forgetten if the middle keyway (there are 9 keyways I believe going from -8, -6, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 ) is the "0" degree mark and if I want "0" degrees advance from the chain, do I line the mark on the cam sprocket up with the center keyway on the crank sprocket? For those of you who have this set, you remeber that there are two sets of numbers on the crank sprocket and the instructions told which number/key to match the dot up with depending on what advanve ot retard to you want. Just want to make sure I'm doing it right. Hope all that made at least a little bit of sense...

yes degreeing is the better way, also watch the marks you use there will be a 0mark on the tooth and another 0mark on the keyway to be used but line up the two 0marks that are on the gear teeth not the keyway.

I have a degree wheel one of the guys on here made. You can Have/use it with the stipulation that you send it to someone else "free" when you are done.
PM me with your address if interested.

Thanks for the responses and advice. I am all for degreeing the cam, I just wanted to initially set the timing gear to 0* for the degreeing process and had forgotten whether to line the dot on the cam pulley up with the 0* mark on the keyway, or the 0* mark at the teeth. Does someone happen to still have the JP Performance double roller timing chain instructions?

Thanks again,
Stephan

to set it at zero or straight up, you line the cam tooth and crank tooth zero marks pointing at each other but make sure the keyway marked zero is on the keyway.
