Ok, This is now twice as frustrating as before, as I have now replaced the intake/exhaust gasket and the metal gasket between the two manifolds , twice now.
This second go round I used high temp RTV on the surfaces where the metal gasket sits.
Still leaks . Not alot , but noticable on acceleration from a dead stop.
OK; Question, what is next?should I disassemble and bring the parts to a machine shop to have them resurfaced? And if yes, can they cut just a little off without ruining the parts, or are they already ruined, and should just be replaced?

Those stamped-steel gaskets never seal correctly. It is very much worth your while to get the good gaskets for the manifolds-to-head and intake-to-exhaust junctions.

RemFlex.com makes a real nice gasket that will seal very well in the stove box. Instead of milling the faces I have filed them flat or used 80 grit on a flat 3/4" 15 ply birch plywood scrap to sand the surfaces smooth, like Doc used on the block and head. The gaskets are very thick and will form nicely to seal the surfaces.

I also use their gasket on the intake to head and pipe/manifold joint. Very nice quality gaskets.
No over torquing or re-torquing required.

i am ordering the aussie gaskets per slantsixdan's advice and posts.

right now i am gonna use the junky felpro just to get me to woodburn!

I 2nd Ted on the Remflex gaskets, extremely good quality. My manifolds are extremely warped but it still FULLY seals them. They are made locally in Washington and they guarantee their products.

I started using one and it cracked because I overtightened it, and they still sent me a new one for free.

Great company.

Another vote for the Remflex. I only used the manifold set to head gasket though, since I somehow got the steel shim gasket to seal well between the two manifolds (a piece of 2X4 and some 150 grit sandpaper goes a long way there) a year or so ago and didn't feel like breaking them apart.

SL6 manifold sealing can be a problem if the surfaces of the manifold set is not flat, even the best gasket will have trouble holding a good seal.

Take the time to correctly align the 2 manifolds and to get the heat stove gasket to fully compress and sealed, then have the assembled manifold set resurfaced along the port openings.

I've not used the Remflex gaskets yet, but I can tell you the company has had outstanding service for me. Got some damaged gaskets from another supplier that was supplying Remflex gaskets. Remflex took care of the situation pronto and was a joy to work with.
