Doug, I am currently using a 2.7:1 ratio first geared a-833 non - o/d unit with the stock 9" clutch and pres. plate. As soon as my local napa gets the right clutch in (they had orded me a 10 spline unit) I will be upgrading to an A-833 non - O/D with the 3.09:1 low gear, And H/D 10" truck/ taxi Clutch - 23 spline. What kind of acceleration difference can I expect from the 3.09:1 Gear? Thanks, Greg Ondayko http://www.geocities.com/gao5498/slant6 gocar@prousa.net |

Example: 2.94 x 3.09 = 9.08 start-off ratio, 2.94 x 2.65 = 7.79 DD |

The rear end ratio Is 3.23 - I am also Running some tall GR 60-14's out back. I figured the 3.09 would get me started faster, and I could still get the 20+ mpg on the highway with the Hyperpak. Greg Ondayko gocar@prousa.net |

Greg Just read your post, I have run a Hyper Pak in one car or another for 30 plus years. I ran it in a '64 Barracuda with a 3.09 and a 3.55 rear and 14 inch L60 Super Stock tires. It got 21 miles to the gallon running up and down the interstate from Newport News to Richmond. I was using a small Carter from a 273 Formula S Barracuda. Good luck with your ride! Stan |

I do not know how many of you remeber this, but about 10-15 yaers back, Jack Pohler wrote an artical in the Slant Six News called Tires and Gearing. It was in the 63 Valiant issue I think. Is there anyway some of the old articals like that one could be posted somewhere? Or are they and I missed them? I used to enjoy reading his stuff, but if you called him or visited his house, it took forever to leave, he liked to talk. Scott scott.solomon@mcchord.af.mil |
